How to Care for Stephanotis
Temperature
- Although the foliage of Stephanotis can withstand temperatures as low as 10 degrees celsius the flowers cannot, so when in flower they need higher temperatures.
- At temperatures below 15 degrees celsius Stephanotis flowers will droop and drop off.
- As a guide, if Phalaenopsis orchids are happyStephanotis will be too.
Watering
- Stephanotis don’t like to be over watered during winter, wait for the top of the compost to dry slightly before watering with a small watering can.
- Always water with tepid water.
- Avoid getting the flowers wet as this will cause them to discolor and may cause them to drop.
Maintenance
- No maintenance is required for Stephanotis unless the flowers start to drop then the flowers will need to be removed.
- When Stephanotis have not been cared for correctly the effects will be initially shown on the flowers.
- The first signs that a Stephanotis is too dry will be the tips of the flowers turning brown.
- If a plant is too cold the flowers will droop before falling off.
